Lamdon Jamyang School at Khalsi - Ladakh

In 2010, His Holiness Dalaï-Lama ingurated and gave the name of Lamdon Jamyang at the the school. Students were only 32 and now, they are 125. Children come from very poor villages around Khaltsi and they had to pay fees to enroll children, so Association would like to sponsor poor children to cancel tuition fees.

The present school building has 5 classrooms. It is too small, so It's proposed to add 5 class rooms on the first floor.

CONSTRUCTION OF THE SCHOOL

The super structure of the building shall be constructed in semi blocks of cement concrete in cement masonry on the corners and joints and the rest of the walls shall be constructed in sun dried mud masonry in mud mortar with RCC lintel all over doors and windows as a safety measures against earthquake forces. The roofs of the classrooms shall be of local traditional type of poplar joist and willow twigs with mud roofing over on a layer of Yakzes bushes laid to a slope to drain the rain waterand snow melt water on the roofs. To climb up to the first floor, a stair case of RCC frame structure has proposed to be constructed on one side of the building.

CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOSTEL BUILDING

The hostel for the students frome remote area, children of very poor families and orphanage shall be constructed. Initialy the building shall have a capacity of fifteen rooms with dinning and recreation hall and shall have the scope of future expansion with the increase in inmates. The hostel has proposed to accommodate about 80 students at the most.

The project could be given to anyone.
